The idea of a weight loss diet for fat people is one of the biggest hoaxes marketers have ever pulled off. Millions of innocent people and billions of dollars are sucked in every single year.
Shocked and Skeptical?
Surprised? I mean, what would possess someone to say something like this?
Skeptical? For crying out loud-everyone knows weight loss diets make up a billion-dollar-a-year industry.
Well, here's the thing: if someone is overweight, are they a fat person, or a fat people? I'll bet you answered "a fat person." Of course, you were absolutely right to do so. And in so doing, you also just uncovered one of marketing's greatest hoaxes. This hoax is effectively cleaning out wallets and purses all over America and Canada.
You see, here's the thing. "Fat people" is a group. And groups don't go on diets-individual people do!
Is It "What's" Fat or "Who's" Fat?
Commonalities define groups. A secret in creating really large groups is to include as FEW commonalities as possible.
So when a diet is advertised as "The Diet for Overweight People" and the intention is to speak to all the overweight people on the continent-guess what? You've got it! To make a group this big, they must look at a very few things. In fact, they look at only one thing that all these people have in common. They're fat.
So let's say that 5 overweight people buy "The Diet for Overweight People." Clearly these are all "fat people." They all belong to the "fat people group", right? So this diet is perfect for each and every one of them, right?
WRONG!
Here's why
* Hormonal imbalances are at the root of George's overweight condition
* Sheila is overweight because she eats a lot of meat and dairy products from producers that make use of growth hormones to fatten up the livestock. Sheila is unaware that this is also fattening her up!
* Peter has hit the over 40 group. Two years ago, he was promoted to an executive position (sitting at a desk with no exercise) from a very active field position (lots of exercise). The result is that Peter's weight issues are tied to a slowing metabolism.
* Margaret began yoyo dieting after her second pregnancy. Now her body has become very efficient at holding on to all the fat that finds its way into her stomach. Her body has also become quite accomplished at manufacturing and storing fat from the food Margaret eats. To make matters worse, her body has gained a military precision in its ability to move while minimizing the amount of calories it burns. Margaret's body has transformed into a fat production and storage machine.
* Perhaps Barbara's tale is the saddest. Barbara hates the fat woman in the mirror who stares back at her. Barbara has valiantly fought to lose weight for years. The depression and shame she feels is almost unbearable. Barbara's family and friends see the obvious fact about her weight problem. It's a secret to Barbara, but not because of any conspiracy. She just can't see or hear the truth-the truth that she is at least 20 pounds underweight! Dieting isn't working for Barbara because nothing she does to her body changes this image of herself which she holds in her mind.
I Rest My Case:
"Fat people" is a group made up of individual people, each struggling with their personal version of overweight. This is a fact. And in light of this fact, there can be no "perfect diet for fat people."
By being cautious and doing your homework, it is possible however to find the perfect diet for you. - 15343
