Cellulite is common in women with up to 95 percent suffering the condition some time during their life. Other factors that affect the condition is the estrogen that is found in contraception pills, a slow metabolism, not drinking enough water, caffeine and spicy foods, medications, stress and a lack of exercise.

Age is another major risk factor. As a woman gets older the skin begins to lose its strength and elasticity, and the structure that keeps the fat underneath the skin in place starts to lose its ability to secure the fat.

The first step in fighting back against cellulite is to change your life. Drink plenty of water, exercise and consume more fruit and vegetables. Eliminate the bad foods such as coffee, chocolate and those high in fats.

Make sure when developing your exercise program that you balance your cardio with weight bearing exercises. Don't worry about getting bulky. Women are unable develop large muscle. Instead concentrating on doing a well round routine that will increase your calorie count.
