Six Helpful Suggestions About Potty Training Your Toddler

By Terry Stanfield

Training toddlers to use the potty can be one of the most challenging tasks for parents of toddlers. There are many books, resources, and products designed for potty training but it can still be challenging for many children and their parents. While potty training is a rite of passage for young children it should not be a harrowing experience.

Because potty training is challenging for most children at least at first, parents look for help when training their toddler. Here are six tips to make potty training easier.

Your child will be ready for potty training on their own time. While most parents would be happy getting potty training done as soon as possible, many children aren't ready as soon as parents would like. It is very common for children, especially boys, to not be ready for potty training until age three or even three and a half.

If your child does not take to potty training right away there is nothing wrong with stopping and resuming it when they are ready. It your child is struggling it may be best to try again in a few months when your child is older and may be more receptive.

While accidents should not be rewarded, punishing or belittling a child is counter productive to potty training. Accidents should be handled matter-of-factly without criticism or making a child feel ashamed.

Using pull ups or other training pants that absorb like diapers may keep your child from learning quickly as they cannot feel the wetness. Cloth training pants or regular underwear that allow your child to feel wetness may help them learn better if they are having trouble learning with pull ups.

Many parents would not consider allowing their child to run around the house naked, but doing so can be a good potty training method. Many children find it easier to use learn to use the toilet if they are allowed to forgo pants and underwear.

Make our child feel good about using the toilet, but do not push them or stress out over it. Putting too much pressure on a child to potty train can be counter productive and cause them to have trouble learning.

Parents look forward to the end of diapers, but potty training offers new challenges to the parents of toddlers. Approach potty training only when your child is ready and be sure to use plenty of positive reinforcement and low pressure. - 15343

Choosing a Weight Loss Program That Will Get Your Sexy Back

By Yomi A

If you are looking for a good weight loss program to help you get your sexy back, there are good chances that you are overwhelmed by the sheer number of options that are available out there today. To help you make the right choice, we will provide you with some important criteria for you to evaluate these programs objectively. Here are some parameters that will help you evaluate a weight loss program objectively.

1. Cost: No surprises here, the first thing you need to do is to take a hard look at the price that you are being charged. Is it substantially more than all of the other options? If so, does anything in the program justify that high cost? You should ask yourself these two questions in order to come at a good decision about the cost.

2. Ease of following the program: Different programs will need you to follow a different routine and eat a certain way. If you have a job that requires traveling and are not sure that you will be able to exercise 7 days a week, every week, for six months, then stay clear of programs that require this. Select a program that is not too hard for you to follow.

3. Value: How successful has the program been for others? Did the creator of the program ever follow it himself? What are the credentials of the authors? Have other people who share the same traits as you found the program helpful? These are some questions that will help you evaluate whether the program holds any value for you or not. If you are not sure about any of these questions then look around a little more and find a program that you are sure about.

4. Safe and healthy weight loss: Since all of these programs impact your body directly, you need to be sure that what you will be doing to lose weight will be safe. Some weight loss programs require altering your nutritional intake and prevent you from eating certain types of food. You need to make sure that not eating such foods will not deprive you of any essential nutrition. Be skeptical of anything that requires any sort of medication at all.

5. Once you lose weight, how to stay that way and preserve your sexy: This is the separator between the good and the great programs. The great programs teach you how to lose weight, but more importantly they teach you how to stay that way and keep it off. Look at the promotional material of the weight loss program and try and see if this point is being addressed.

These were some criteria that you can use as a measuring stick to help you evaluate a weight loss program objectively. Your best bet will be to make a table and have these criteria on one side and the different weight loss programs on the other side. Then give a rating of high, medium and low to all of the parameters of the different programs. Then at the end of the exercise, you will have a pretty good idea of which program will give you the best result. Or you can visit "Review This Weight Loss Program Dot Com" to see the views and opinions of other people who have tried out various weight loss programs on the market. Choose wisely so you can work hard to bring your sexy back! - 15343

Can Contacts Get Lost in Your Eye?

By Amy Nutt

For those who have never had contact lenses before, the thought of putting something in your eye, even to help with vision, can be rather scary. Fortunately, wearing contacts is not as bad as you might imagine. One of the common myths associated with contact lenses is that they can get slide behind your eye and get lost, which contributes to a lot of fear about using them!

Losing your contact lens in your eye isn't a big deal. First of all, the contact lens simply can't slide around the eyeball and into the space behind it. Your eyes are made to resist any intrusion. There is a transparent membrane that covers the inside of your eyelids called the conjunctiva. This membrane is very strong and it actually folds back to cover the front part of your eye. The white part of the eyeball is protected by the conjunctiva and it is literally impossible for a contact lens to just slide through it.

However, it is possible for your contact lens to get dislodged from its centralized position and become lodged under an eyelid. This can be pretty uncomfortable, if you have hard contact lenses. If this does happen, don't panic, it's a fairly simple maneuver to get the lens back into place and anyone can do it. Your contact lens won't get stuck under your eyelid unless there are other factors like chemicals in your eye as well.

First, locate the lens. If you aren't sure where it is, feel with your fingertip on the outside of the lids. Then look in the direction the contact lens is. For example, if the contact lens has moved up, look up. Since the lens cannot go behind the eye, this gives it the chance to reposition itself correctly. Most of the time, this is all you need to do in order to move the contact lens back into place. But sometimes it won't work, particularly if you wear hard contact lenses, which are more resistant to movement. In this case, you will need to manipulate the contact lens under the eyelid so that you can gently push it back out with your fingertip.

Don't worry, the contact lens can't get lost in your eye, only moved around a bit. There are a few reasons why a contact lens might shift out of position. Probably the most common is when you rub your eye carelessly. This can move the contact lens and lodge it under your eyelid, or even knock it right out of your eye! Care needs to be taken when rubbing your eye, rub around the contact lens if possible, rather than across the eye like you normally would.

If you are outdoors on a windy day, it is easier for the contact lens to move around, as well. The wind tends to make your eyes water and this, as well as any time you have excessive tears, can cause the lens to float, making it easier to dislodge when you blink. Sometimes the lens will actually fall out of your eye, but occasionally it will be caught under the eyelid during a blink and will need to be moved back into place.

When shifting your contact lens manually, take care not to press it into your eye. Scratches on the eye can be very painful, even if superficial and may make it impossible to wear contact lenses for some time. Being careful not to put yourself into situations where you may move your contact lens is probably the best way to avoid this problem. Don't rub your eyes too hard and be careful on windy days or anytime you tend to tear up, to avoid losing your contact lenses. - 15343

Being fatty and overweight- what is it?

By Shoaib Ahsan

Being overweight is a condition of abnormal or excessive fat stored in the body to the extent that it may have a negative effect on your health. If the weight is spread uniformly over the entire body, it is seen as fatty overweight. Also termed as energetic overweight, the condition can have significant harmful effects like cholesterol, gout, stones, hypertension, coronary thrombosis, diabetes, etc. So what causes this condition:-

1. Heredity factor: There is family tendency to stoutness, which is more often the inheritance of the habit of overeating rather than a truly genetic factor.

2. The age factor: When some people eat excessively up to a certain age and the obesity occurs due to poor functioning of the system.

3. Overeating: Being overweight is most often the result of an energy imbalance where energy intake has been greater than the energy use over a period.

4. A stale body: People hate it when it comes to accepting the fact that they don't maintain a healthy lifestyle of having enough exercise and muscle movement. Stale body becomes overweight pretty easily.

5. Emotional and mental factors.

6. Effects of glands: Glandular malfunctions of the pituitary gland or the thyroid gland are supposed to the common causes of obesity by medical experts.

How to treat fatty overweight ?

Lifestyle and diet changes have contributed to increasing obesity rates around the world and this is where changes need to be made as well to help maintain a healthy weight. Try these:

Dieting: Weight loss typically involves the loss of fat, water and muscle and can be done properly by cutting down on fat and carbohydrate intake. A dieter can lose weight without losing much fat.

Food you may eat

O You would not like to include Fatty soups, meats and fish that are high in fat in your diet.

O Sausage Meat and stews.

O Avoid Fat pork, bacon, ham, sausage rolls and meat pies.

O Fried foods.

O Lard, margarine, butter, oil, cream and milk products.

Why Buying the Wrong Night Cream Is More Than a Waste of Money!

By Dr. Samantha Fine

Night cream is an essential part of a woman's beauty routine, but there is a wealth of information about why you should use one but not what it should contain.

A great night cream should contain 3 types of ingredients. The first essential ingredient is a cellular renewer that rejuvenates the epidermis. The second: antioxidants that neutralize environmental toxins. The third: a collagen booster which improves elasticity and smoothness.

Ultimately you should choose a moisturizer that has as its base, a wonderful natural moisturizers. Some great creams rely on: (a) caviar (fish egg) emolients to nourish and rejuvenate the skin; (b) tea, leaf, marine, and yeast extracts to revitalize the cellular renewal processes; and (c) time release capsules containing a mixture of moisturizers that should be used overnight to continually renew and refresh the skin while you sleep.

Remember you do not need to shop for or purchase the most expensive night cream. The proof as they say is in the pudding. Look for the ingredients discussed above, cross-compare and don't be afraid to try new products. However, you must devote at least 6-8 weeks to any one product before you'll start to see results. This is why choosing a product with proven age-fighting compounds is so important. There is no time to waste with night creams that either don't contain the proper ingredients or don't contain them in the right concentration.

To find the right night cream you can shop around at your favorite boutiques and you might find some. I, however, recommend one source: http://www.nighttimemoisturizers.com. The site is packed with information about night creams and has links to purchase fantastic night creams at all price ranges and for all types of skin. - 15343

A Drug Habit Is Not The Answer To Weight Loss

By Henry John

Do you remember all those obese people on the good spaceship Axiom in the movie WALL . E? Is that what we are going to look like in the future? Wow, that's a scary thought, but even more scary when the National Institute of Health reports that 65% of Americans are overweight or obese! Even more depressing when we learn that well over 90% of people who go on a diet never achieve permanent weight loss. "Houston...we have a problem!"

Everywhere people are trying to find an answer to one of the nation's most pressing problems, and so far there is not much on the horizon - or is there?

Maybe it's time to try another diet...it at least shows that you're making an effort. All that calorie deprivation makes you feel that you've got control of the situation. The depression that follows failure is not far off. It's a cruel return for so much effort.

Drugs, are they the answer? When people get desperate they turn to anything. Doctors have been under increasing pressure to prescribe weight loss drugs to overweight and obese people.

Doctors are usually very careful indeed about what they prescribe to obese people, but they are under increasing pressure because people are either unwilling or not prepared to make the personal commitment that long-term weight loss requires.

All drugs have side-effects and weight loss drugs are no exception. For those that have to take them, they can be an added burden - not to be recommended.

Weight gain accumulates over time and yet there is the demand that any weight loss should be instant. Fast weight loss unfortunately leads to fast weight gain. Pills and drugs are not a quick fix.

Personal change is the only sure-fire way to achieve permanent weight loss. Recognizing bad behaviour is the first step followed by learning new habits, slim habits, if you like, which you 'hotwire' onto your brain through repetition and practice. It takes resolve and commitment, but so does anything that has any lasting value. - 15343
