Tips on Accessorizing A Flower Girl Dress

By Chloe Webar

Flower girls in general capture the attention of all the wedding guests as they walk down the aisle by being nothing more than themselves. She has cuteness written all over with a beaming, smiling face looking at everyone on their walk to the front. Flower girls usually need nothing more than an appropriately beautiful dress that can be found and purchased online from a reputable company. Sometimes though flower girls would like to be more like the bridesmaids with their accessories and flower bouquets they carry on their grown up walks down the aisle before the bride arrives. It can be easy to go overboard when buying accessories to go with the flower girl's dress so here are some quick and easy tips to help buy the right accessories to enhance the beauty with minimal effort.

1. Hair decorations: Flowing, colorful ribbons in the flower girl's hair only add to her cuteness. Her hair can be up, down, or even half and half ribbons can be attached and run through any hairstyle chosen. The ribbons do need to match or coordinate with the flower girl dress and the rest of the bridal party as well. When deciding on hair decorations remember that this is a little girl and most don't like heavy, uncomfortable things on their heads. The flower girl should try on the decoration if possible before it is purchased to make sure of fit and comfort. It is also an option to remove the hair decoration once the wedding ceremony is over and leave off for the reception. Remember that your flower girl should be comfortable throughout the ceremony and reception to keep that beaming smile on her face.

2. Jewelry: Very young flower girls should wear jewelry very sparingly. In fact, if they could get away with the bare look, then they should not wear any jewelry at all. Bear in mind to let each girl wear a simple jewelry piece that will compliment the flower girl dress she's wearing such as earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. No heirloom pieces or ultra expensive items for them. A playful and very active child may destroy a piece of jewelry or, worse, lose it. Further, be certain that whatever piece of jewelry they wear, it should not be able to injure her in anyway or make her feel uncomfortable.

3. Shoes. The pair of shoes the flower girl will wear should match or compliment their flower girl dress. It is important to have very young flower girls wear flat shoes to ensure comfort and to mitigate the likelihood of any girl stumbling while walking down the aisle. Slightly older girls may wear shoes with low heels but, again, the vital thing to consider is their comfort. A flower girl with feet that hurt may just mar an otherwise perfect wedding.

4. Other accessories: There are many other types of accessories for flower girls; from gloves to baskets. When choosing any other accessories remember to coordinate with the flower girl dress and bridal party. Flowers should match those of the bride if possible; a basket could be lined with excess fabric from the bridal gown to make it a memorable keepsake, while gloves, jackets and handbags should be comfortable and coordinating.

Flower girls have many options when it comes to accessories. Most of these accessories like the flower girl's dress can be bought online. Usually accessories can be found at the same place as the flower girl dress. These items, including the flower girl dress, should be ordered early so they arrive about 4-6 weeks prior to the wedding ceremony to avoid any last minute catastrophes and allow time for any adjustments or exchanges. Carefully planning will help reduce stress and make the days leading up to the wedding easier. Now's the time to start your journey to finding the perfect flower girl accessories to go with that perfect flower girl dress; online retailers are always ready and open for you to go shopping at your leisure day or night. - 15343
