It would be easy to believe that the global weight problem was just consigned to the adult population, but that would be a lie with a frightening number of children who are just starting school having a weight problem. The patient ones have decide to face this problem by adjusting their diet and taking more exercise but the impatient ones usually decide on surgery. Unfortunately others that can't wait to get rid of the extra pounds decide to take the fastest way out is through the use of weight loss drugs.

These drugs usually work buy telling the brain it is no longer hungry and stimulating the metabolic rate to aid the shedding of calories. It was only after scientists discovered that these drugs had side effects and were related to the cause heart valve disease that these were taken off the shelves. Newer drugs were naturally developed and started to be prescribed by physicians and dieticians that are currently waiting for full the Federal Drug Administration go ahead.

The chances are that if you asked enough people around you then someone will say they have used them as well and been happy with the results. This is obviously a very tempting prospect, to lose weight whilst keeping your diet the same. Many millions of dollars are spent each year in The United States alone whilst the drug manufacturers spend huge sums on further research into weight loss drugs.

Even with all the testing and new techniques available for manufacturers, many side effects like nausea and diarrhea still exist with the new generation of weight control pills which, incidentally, can still be purchased over the counter. Other harmful side effects such as tightness in the chest and urinary tract problems and fatal such as a stroke and an overdose of the diet pills can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure even heart attack and convulsions.
