Babies, Blogs and Motherhood

By Mrs. Taylor

If you've just had a new baby, the last thing you're probably thinking about is writing a blog. As you are discovering, caring for a newborn is a lot more work than it looked like. Diapers need constant changing; if the baby isn't sleeping, he's eating; and the rest of the time it seems he's spitting up. How can there possibly be any time left to blog?

In spite of this, the number of new moms starting their own blogs is growing. New moms can benefit a great deal from blogging everything from helping them get through a rough night with the baby to updating relatives on the family news.

Blogging is a great idea for a new mom to blow off a little steam when the day to day hassles of life with a baby get a little overwhelming. It is also a great way to share those exciting events like baby's first smile. Every parent soon learns that baby doesn't always sleep according to plan, leaving them with hours to kill in the middle of the night, rocking the baby. Some moms turn on the television, but let's face it, there usually isn't much on in the wee hours, is there? The Internet has become an alternative for those late night hours, surfing, reading and blogging. What was a depressing time can turn into a time of affirmation and productive activity.

Many new moms find that writing a blog makes them a part of a community. Many moms find it challenging to juggle a normal social life with a new baby. Blogging can help you stay connected so you don't feel so isolated. Babies need constant attention, so lugging them out to a party or other gathering can be difficult, if not downright impossible at times. Fortunately, the internet is full of other mothers in the same boat. By connecting with other mothers through blogging, you become a part of a new social circle that keeps you from feeling alone.

Blogging is also a great way to share all the joy and love you feel for your new baby. Blogs give you a place to reflect on the ups and downs of motherhood, and share the happiness your little one gives you when she smiles in a sweet, milky way as she falls asleep. Blogs keep you in touch with your friends and family who are not close enough to visit, so they don't miss baby's first steps or her first hair cut. With the new technologies online, it is easy to share photos and video clips so no one feels they had to miss out on these precious milestones in the life of your baby. - 15343
